As you read the following three cases, make notes about what you would do in each situation. At the end of the chapter you will find an analysis of each case. Before reading the analyses, re-read the cases, and see if you would solve them any differently than you initially did. Then compare your analyses with those provided. Each of these patient cases presents decisions that must be made on the basis of legal and ethical principles. Your ability to choose a proper course of action in these situations depends on your understanding of the ethical principles involved.
