Prince Shah Karim Al Hussaini Prince Shah Karim Al Hussaini, Aga Khan IV, was born on December 13, 1936, in Geneva, Switzerland. He became the 49th Imam of the Nizari Ismaili Muslims on July 11, 1957, succeeding his grandfather, Sir Sultan Mahomed Shah Aga Khan III.
